Delete Your Account — The Hostel Yard

This page explains how to request deletion of your The Hostel Yard account and the data associated with it.

How to Request Account Deletion

1. Send an email to privacy@hostelmanage.com from the email address associated with your account (or include your registered phone number if you signed up via OTP).
2. Use the subject line: "Account Deletion Request".
3. We will verify your identity and confirm the request within 7 business days.
4. Once verified, your account and associated data will be deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required as described below.

What Gets Deleted

• Your profile information (name, email, phone number, date of birth, gender)
• KYC documents (Aadhaar, PAN, photo) and verification records
• Emergency contact information
• Profile photo/avatar
• Maintenance complaints, leave applications, and gate passes you created
• Push notification tokens

What May Be Retained, and For How Long

Some information may be retained for a limited period after account deletion where required by law or legitimate business needs, such as:

• Financial/payment records (rent, deposit transactions) — retained for up to 7 years as required by Indian tax and accounting regulations.
• Records related to an active dispute or legal proceeding — retained until the matter is resolved.
• Aggregated, anonymized data that no longer identifies you may be retained indefinitely for analytics purposes.

All other personal data is permanently deleted from our systems (including backups, within a reasonable rotation period) once the retention requirements above no longer apply.
